Nobody likes to talk about the ugly side of poker the so called “Bad Beats”, but since they will hit you sooner or later we are forced to confront with them.
Her is what we are going to to talk about in this post:
What is a Bad Beat
In poker, bad beat is a subjective term for a hand in which a player with what appear to be strong cards nevertheless loses. It most often occurs where one player bets the clearly stronger hand and their opponent makes a poor call that eventually “hits” and wins.”
Can we avoid it
Now that you know what a B.B. in poker is you as well want to know if there is a way to avoid them? Well, the obvious answer would be a clear NO!
If you really want to avoid Bad Beats then you would have to play only unbeatable hands (if no card showing on turn or river could possible beat you), howsoever that is very rarely the case, so it is not worthwhile to wait for such occasions.
How to handle them
It’s hard to ignore Bad Beats, because they will always piss you off, especially if you did lose a big pot.
The only rational way to handle B.B. is to be prepared that it can hit you at any time, but if you manage to accept them as an unavoidable evil then you are looking into a bright poker future.
Like it was already mentioned in the article Psychological Games there are 6 kinds of poker players in my opinion and now we are gonna go in for a closer look.
These kind of players only look at their own hand. They don’t mind what you are doing unless you are betting against them. If you make a high bet and they have a bad hand then they will fold, but if they have top pair they will call. These kind of poker players nearly never bluff.
This players as well are only looking at their own poker hand. However, they will call your bets less often than a Fish would do. Weak-Tight poker players are not willing to lose all their money with top pair unless they think you are a “maniac”. Best way of playing this guys is to bluff at the right spots at the right time.
The Policemen poker player is very much alike the Fish, but he does know the game somewhat better. He thinks in most cases that nobody has the only hand that could possible beat him and therefor he expects everyone else to be bluffing. These kind of poker players will always call you until river.
This is the poker player we confront on our list who is very tactically skilled. Usually professional poker players are considered Tight-Aggressive. They most likely are more willing to raise your bet, than just simply to call it. It would be better to avoid sitting on the same table as this guys, but if you have to then the best way of playing against them is to vary your poker game as much as possible. Force them to adapt to your rhythm.
Hyper Aggressive players love to bet and to raise. It’s very hard to differentiate if they have the best hand, or if they are bluffing. Playing against these guys means to either win a lot of money, or to lose a lot. Actually the only way to play this guys without risking all your buy in is to wait for a very good hand.
It doesn’t matter what the real reasons for his acting are, if a poker player is tilt then he is Tilt and you should use that occasion to take all the money he has left on the poker table. Tilt players will try to push even middle strong hands until the end and very often they will go All in as well.
Las Vegas is the biggest city in the US state of Nevada. It is one of the biggest centers in the world when it comes to entertainment, gambling and wild night life. Although it was found in 1905, this city became known for gambling a few decades later – in 1946 when gambling was legalized and allowed there.
It is known for the replicas of famous world attraction like the pyramids, the Eifel Tower and canal of Venice, but Las Vegas is best known for its casinos! Did you know that people leave around 4 billion dollars a year while they are gambling there?
It’s no different when we talk about poker. There are literally dozens of tournaments in various casinos every week. In this article we will try to explain why Vegas is the best place to play poker.
Playing online poker or participating in online poker tournaments is getting more and more popular every day. A lot of people think that this is the best way to learn and earn and even build themselves as professional poker players.
But in our opinion if you want to become a player like that then you should visit Las Vegas at least one time in your life. There are some things that you can’t experience while playing online poker or playing poker on some place other than Las Vegas. There are many advantages of playing poker there and these are few of them:
Many different players
If you are playing poker online or in your local poker room you won’t meet many new players. Usually they are the same people or people that use nicknames (anonymous players) if you play via internet. It is a completely different story when you play poker in Vegas. There are literally hundreds of pro poker players from around the globe. If you think that meeting new players won’t help you get better then you are wrong. Different players have different playing styles and unique approach to the game and playing with them will certainly improve your skills. With thousands of players weekly, we are sure that you won’t find a place in the world that has more poker players.
It is not a virtual experience any more
Poker is a game that was invented to be played live, with people on an actual table. So this is a big advantage if we compared it with playing online poker. You will definitely have a different experience if you play a poker tournament in a real poker room with actual people compared to those virtual rooms. Las Vegas has live poker tables available at any time of the day.
Is there are better way to rest from a long poker game than wander around the streets of Las Vegas? Many different bars, restaurants, museums and all sort of entertainment can be found around every corner. No matter if you win or lose, the things that Las Vegas offers will surely clear your mind and give you enough strength to continue playing poker after a while.
